Antique Bisque Kammer & Reinhardt Doll Halbig

This Antique German Bisque doll was made by Kammer & Reinhardt, using a Halbig head in the early 1900's. This Type of doll is known as a socket head doll. These dolls came on several different types of bodies, the most common being Leather or Bisque or Composition later. The heads are open at the top, and the glass eyes are rockers that open and shut. Wigs were often human hair or mohair. Some have the open mouth with teeth. These dolls came in many different sizes, from 6 inches up to 30 inches. The back of her head above says K * R Halbig. These dolls, if well maintained go for several hundred dollars up into the thousands of dollars. That is if there are no chips or cracks and if the paint is all there and original, and if eyes are still original etc. The lady above is original.

Antique German Bisque dolls

Here are 2 antique German Bisque Dolls. They were made in the late 1800's to early 1900's in a Doll Factory in Thuringia Germany. These 2 little dolls have a sad History they bring with them. When Germany was being attacked, in WW1 a lot of these dolls were buried deep in the ground to save them. Unearthed 100 years later, I bought these 2 dolls a few years ago. Because they were buried in the ground so long , they have been cleaned, but alas have inbedded dirt. Still highly collectible. 1 is 4 inches tall, and the other 5 inches.The arms and legs are held on by metal pins.

Dressed up and a wig and these dolls would show the history of dolls of over a hundred years ago!!
